Most homeowners only experience having to deal with a windstorm once or twice in the course of owing their home. Trying to find the right contractor and dealing with the insurance can be very overwhelming. If the insurance adjusters are overwhelmed with calls they sometime advise the homeowner to arrange for their own roofer and then the insurance will refund the owner later. There are two methods of securing a roof temporarily until the insurance can access the claim. First there is the tarp method which is not that secure. The best way is to use shingles to fill in the missing areas with some roof tar. The roof is secure until it can be permanently addressed. If you cant get a roofer then a tarp is the next best thing and ccan be found in the link below.
